Colombian star James Rodríguez may be set for a return to La Liga.
Currently playing for Mexican side León, James is enjoying the final days of his vacation before rejoining the team for pre-season training in preparation for the second half of the Mexican league season. Recently, he also represented the Colombian national team in World Cup qualifiers.
Although James is about to embark on a new chapter in Mexico, speculation about his future has once again surfaced. Previously, there were rumors linking him to a move to Pachuca after León failed to qualify for the Club World Cup, but that transfer did not materialize. Instead, James chose to focus on international duty with Colombia.
Now, however, things could change for James in the second half of 2025. With Real Oviedo gaining promotion to La Liga, the 33-year-old could make a return to Spain’s top flight, hoping to continue the success he once enjoyed at Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
This possibility arises from the fact that Real Oviedo is part of the Pachuca Group, which also owns León and Pachuca. As a result, several players from the Mexican league, including James, may have the chance to move to La Liga.
For now, fans are waiting to see James return to León in the coming days to begin training, aiming to be fit for the upcoming pre-season friendlies. These matches will serve as crucial preparation ahead of León’s league opener against Atlético San Luis on July 13.
