Enzo Maresca Reveals Reason Behind Joao Pedro's Chelsea Scoring woes
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has provided insight into Joao Pedro’s recent scoring struggles, explaining the factors behind the striker’s dip in form.
Pedro, 24, scored his first goal in 11 games for club and country to secure his side a crucial 1-0 away win over Tottenham on Saturday (November 1).
The Brazilian could have had more, with a number of opportunities in the first half and a golden chance to make it 2-0 in the dying stages of the game.
Speaking after the game, Maresca revealed that Pedro has been struggling for fitness, suggesting that may be the reason for his trouble in front of goal.
“Joao has never been a problem,” he said.0
“The problem with Joao is that he's not training every day because of the problems he has. He is not 100% fit in every game. Joao is going to score goals.0
“Against Liverpool, he was very, very good. We have Liam back now and we have more options. We have been without Cole and two months without Liam. We need offensive players.”
