The San Antonio Spurs are facing a back-to-back stretch against the Utah Jazz and Houston Rockets. In their previous home game, San Antonio edged the Minnesota Timberwolves 126–123, a win that lifted them to second place in the Western Conference standings. This season, the Spurs have swept every other team in the West’s top five, including three victories over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, underscoring their growing title credentials.

The fourth quarter against Minnesota turned into a showcase of star power. Anthony Edwards poured in a career-high 55 points for the Timberwolves, while Victor Wembanyama answered with 12 points in the final period and 39 overall, leading the Spurs to a statement win.

Houston, meanwhile, defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 119–110 to secure their second straight victory. Jabari Smith Jr. delivered a breakout performance, drilling a career-high seven three-pointers on his way to 32 points and eight rebounds, firmly shaking off his recent slump. Kevin Durant struggled from the field (5-of-18 for 18 points) but still made history, surpassing Dirk Nowitzki to move into sixth place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, while adding eight assists.

Against New Orleans, Houston rolled out a towering starting lineup featuring Steven Adams, Alperen Şengün, Durant, Amen Thompson, and Smith—five players all standing over two meters tall. The size advantage makes scoring in the paint extremely difficult for opponents.

San Antonio’s offense, by contrast, leans heavily toward perimeter shooting, even with Wembanyama frequently operating beyond the arc. If shots are not falling, that approach could prove risky in a high-profile matchup. Given Houston’s physical edge and recent form, the Rockets appear to be the more reliable side.

Point Spread Recommendation: Rockets to Win at Home
